Starting Eleven

Dean Henderson Had little to do to make during the opening 45 until called into action by Arbër Hoxha’s curling effort. A sliding tackle against Qazim Laci showed excellent game intelligence. 6/10

Jarell Quansah Examined by Albania’s primary attacker through Hoxha. Started through the middle early on then shifted out wide once a teammate entered the fray. 7/10

John Stones Pushed forward on the ball, as he has done in the past. On occasion seemed hesitant when carrying play and the tactic was shelved after the break. Six

The tall defender A nuisance at set pieces, typically, could serve as another option for his teammate in the backline as opposed to alongside him. A careless ball later in the match almost led to the first goal for Albania. Six

Nico O’Reilly Another confident showing by the youngster after his initial appearance against another side. Saka failed to make the most of a gorgeous flick over the Albania defence. The left-back spot looks secure already. 7

Adam Wharton His first start with the national team. Somewhat sloppy when playing out however his inswinging set-pieces posed a danger. A useful game manager for the coach to have versus sides that sit back. Shown a yellow after a reckless tackle. Six

Declan Rice Crosses from corners and free-kicks were dangerous. Had freedom to roam on the left but was offside when the ball arrived in front of goal. Granted a merited rest after an hour. 6

The star midfielder Functioned in a high spot on the right and put in the hard yards. Displayed flashes of quality and dragged a shot wide. Replaced towards the end for a teammate, his rival, after being booked. Seven

Jarrod Bowen Was presented with the team's top opening of the first half, his strike excellently kept out from Thomas Strakosha. As Quansah staying deep, it fell to him to provide width out wide although his balls into the box were hit and miss. Substituted with 15 to go. 6/10

Harry Kane The difference-maker netting 77th and 78th strikes in an England shirt. The first a trademark close-range tap-in while the second a superb header following a clever run from his marker. Now 32, he continues to improve and England are strong contenders in future competitions when he's in the team. 8

Eberechi Eze Found it tough to influence play on the left flank. Was presented with a decent opportunity after being played in from a teammate but the keeper made the save. His replacement made much more of an impact after coming on. Five

• Phil Foden (replacing Rice on 63 minutes) Looked lively and linked up effectively with the striker in a preferred position, Six
• Saka (on for Eze at the 63-minute mark) Missed opportunities although his set-piece provided the opener, 6/10
• Rashford (replacing Bowen with 15 left) Energetic after coming on and set up the captain's brace via an excellent ball into the area, 7/10
• Elliot Anderson (on for Wharton 75) Seems settled at this level, 6/10
• Rogers (for Bellingham 84) Not enough time to influence the game, 6/10
