Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a from-scratch re-envisioning of the seminal 2000 role-playing game, first released as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct step away from recent Dragon Quest remakes, like the previously released HD-2D iterations, this version adopts a striking 3D aesthetic. Locales are designed to evoke intricate miniature worlds, with characters having a delightful chibi-esque appearance.

"Even with the 3DS remake, the story was still quite lengthy. So we came to a decision that we wanted to tighten the story, [and] craft an experience for today's audiences."

Major Mechanical Changes and Modernizations

• New Vocation Mechanics: One brand new job class was created for this remake. Additionally, party members gain the capacity to master a second vocation, greatly enhancing customization options.

These alterations are aimed at tackle one of the 2000 game's most noted criticisms: its immense length. That original storyline could easily require more than 100 hours to finish. This new version has been specifically reworked to improve pacing and cut down on any repetition.
