President Trump Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Guard Members to the White House
President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.
He mentioned that he spoke to her parents and they were “heartbroken”.
Background on the Heartbreaking Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in critical condition.
Memorials across the state have been held in their memory.
White House Offer
The president stated he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the families of both individuals of the state Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” Trump told the press. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Support
Mourners gathered over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“Sarah was the individual that educators desired. She conducted herself with quiet strength, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired those around her,” the principal, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the press. “She was kind, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”
Memorial details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.
Judicial Measures and Government Changes
Law enforcement have indicted a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while armed.
The incident led the administration to halt refugee claims and cease providing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor stated on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi informed the program that she planned to meet with Wolfe’s family.
Memory of Beckstrom
Sarah, from her hometown, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a MP with honor, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey informed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time was cut short, she has created a legacy that’s going to endure.”
