Patrick Bamford is now a member of the Championship side only half a year after instigating derogatory songs targeting the team's coach, Wilder.

The 32-year-old forward, a free agent after departing from Leeds United, has signed a agreement joining the second-tier club in difficulty until January. His lengthy time with Leeds was ended through agreement in August.

One of Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds included starting insulting chants about Chris Wilder amid the club’s promotion party this spring. Currently, the one-cap England player will be playing under Wilder as the Blades’ manager seeks to rescue his beloved club out of the relegation zone.

Previous Conflict Involving Bamford and Wilder

Both men had history prior to Leeds won promotion back to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United were defeated in the playoff final to Sunderland. Wilder described Bamford as “a muppet” when the situation was different during the 2018-19 season and the Blades secured direct promotion whereas Leeds United missed out in the promotion playoffs.

Reconciliation and Looking Ahead

All seems to have been forgiven and forgotten with Sheffield United, the Championship’s least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost in attack while Bamford hoping to resurrect his career.

The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. A repentant Bamford and the Leeds manager, Daniel Farke, called the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Wilder commented back then: “Spoke with Pat recently and I have no problem at all with it. I’m not sure regarding the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and admired him calling me.

“We had a short while and the same again I spoke to Daniel Farke too and we had a longer discussion together and he is a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would dish it out and take it and that is part and parcel of football across all levels, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Patrick.”

Recent Career Challenges

The forward featured in 18 games for Leeds last season but the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Boro player has struggled with fitness issues in recent years.
