As we head into the final week of the NFL regular season, just two play-off spots remain open. Yet, a great deal more is at stake, including the coveted #1 rankings in each conference and four division titles.
NFL schedulers have crafted a dramatic finale, with the two remaining play-off positions to be decided in two direct head-to-head matchups.

Houston need a win coupled with a Jacksonville defeat to climb from the fifth seed to third. Denver will secure the top seed with a win, but a setback could pave the way for the Patriots or the Jaguars to snatch it.

How the NFL Postseason Works
The top seed in each conference earns a valuable bye week and home games for the duration of the postseason.
On Wildcard Weekend, the remaining six qualified teams face off: the second seed plays the #7 team, third hosts sixth, and #4 faces #5.
In the Divisional Round, the top seeds join the fray, hosting the weakest remaining seed. The AFC and NFC title games are then played at the highest seed, underscoring the critical importance of securing that top spot.

If the Broncos lose, the door opens for the New England Patriots. A Patriots win coupled with a Broncos loss would give the top seed to New England.
