Around 25,000 residences in Queensland's southeast were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms impacted the area, generating wind gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.
Large Hailstones and Extensive Impact
Locals witnessed giant hailstones reaching sizes of seven centimeters in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units working to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Storm Challenges
Meanwhile, approximately 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its most precipitation in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received over five hundred calls for help across the region, primarily for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on yesterday, over 28k energy customers in the state were without power.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coastal areas.
Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing severe weather risk expected across various areas of both states.
Safety Concern
Health officials warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the state.
