Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any destruction is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
