NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through select stations covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the NFL season and after last week's talk about two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests was the amount of penalties both committed. The Eagles committed them in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play in London this weekend.

However it was good to observe that Denver quarterback the rookie managed to overcome that deficit before lead three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the game by four points.

Denver boast the defensive player of the year with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They are first in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia lead the league in scoring near the end zone, yet Denver won that battle.

They had the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not always rushing extra defenders but they might position two linebackers in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that Denver could be this season's dark horses. They finished the previous year well and excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled significantly while new running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He now ranks fifth in the NFL for rushing yards (402) as well as tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

It's impressive that the coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUSH!" at the top on his call sheet.

This demonstrates that the Broncos represent a squad aiming to prioritize the run, because you can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush and maintains in favourable down and distances.

It's also helped QB the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – just behind a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to throw all over, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, and he is so athletic.

His strengths include his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves outside protection, on rollouts. He is able to throw that layered pass over the middle or past defenders.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he displays a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't bothered by extra rushers. He tries to avoid a sack as much as possible and is able throw under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the opponent to stay in play extended periods, and when you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the field vertically side to side. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has pushed back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, seeing him as such a competitor. I think it's fun for him to coach a rookie QB who's similar to moldable clay. The coach can really develop him how he desires to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton owns a championship and now surpassed Bill Parcells for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He has witnessed everything. I think the achievements Denver are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy in your ear, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they good enough to go against an elite team at full strength? Since that was not championship-level play from Philadelphia last Sunday.

Currently, it's unlikely Denver are elite. They're performing above average, which is a good place to hold the AFC West. The key to do is maintain this path.

They're really good at leaning into their forte, that is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

The Jets have allowed 140 yards on the ground each contest (among the worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the sole squad without a win a game.

Ever since the league began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to be without a single takeaway through five games, this is surprising considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss by the Jaguars.

Following the upcoming matchup, Denver have a smooth-ish schedule until their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans and Las Vegas Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In their division, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

This hinges upon what version of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
