Fans Urge Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a individual who leaped a barricade and touched the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good premiere be arrested or deported from Singapore.
A viral video shows the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a promenade flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the gathering by guards.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being arrested", though court documents showed that he was due to attend court on the next day. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes clips of him disturbing other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at the pop singer's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is obviously a legal violation," commented an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"You've done this repeatedly... how are you not behind bars?" one Instagram user remarked.
Supporters Express Concern Over Grande's Safety
Numerous fans accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had discussed dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" commented one more response on Instagram.
Several fans also criticised guards at the premiere for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Response and Event Details
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared shocked when she was grabbed by the man. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the situation, and the remaining proceedings continued without further issues.
Many of supporters had congregated in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on November 21, is the follow-up of a two-part version of the popular theatrical production Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two very different characters.
The production itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the top-earning motion picture of last year in the UK, and scored ten Oscar nominations, earning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
