Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Against defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

The outfielder was instrumental for the Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.

Canada's MLB team reached their initial Fall Classic following 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the ALCS.

Down three runs to one, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run blast in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. They will now face the defending champions, holders of the current crown, in the forthcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

George Springer has now hit 23 total playoff homers, placing him third on the list after Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).

"It's hard to imagine another player anywhere that I'd choose in that moment besides him with his post-season brilliance," remarked Schneider.

Seattle, who had led the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Manager Dan Wilson stated "there's no question that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but commended their efforts this season.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he remarked.

The Blue Jays won the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
